Anthom: A Modern Handwritten Script Font That Elevates Brand Identity

Starting with a Blank Canvas

It was a quiet Monday morning, and I was staring at a blank brand board for a new client—a cozy little café tucked into a corner of the city. The brief was simple: create a warm, approachable, and modern brand identity that feels personal but professional. The café’s vibe was rustic-meets-contemporary, and I knew the typography would set the tone. I had a hunch that Anthom, a modern handwritten script font, might be the perfect fit. Let’s see how it played out in real design work.

First Impressions: Testing the Typeface

I opened my design file and typed out the café’s name using Anthom. Instantly, the screen felt more human. Anthom’s flowing curves and subtle texture gave the logo a personal touch without veering into overly casual territory. It struck a balance between elegance and friendliness—exactly what the client wanted. I adjusted the spacing and played with ligatures to bring out the font’s natural rhythm. The result? A logo that felt handcrafted but polished.

What stood out most was how well Anthom handled short-form text. It’s clearly designed to shine in headlines, logos, and signage. It’s not a workhorse font for body copy, but as a display typeface, it brings a lot of personality. The font’s strokes have a slight bounce, and the baseline varies just enough to feel organic without sacrificing readability.

From Logo to Branding System

With the logo in place, I moved on to the rest of the brand materials. Anthom quickly became the anchor of the visual identity. I used it across business cards, packaging labels, and social media headers. It worked beautifully on matte coffee bags and rustic wooden signage. I made sure to pair it with a clean sans serif for secondary text, which helped maintain a modern edge while keeping the overall look grounded.

One of the biggest challenges was ensuring consistency across different mediums. Anthom’s handmade feel could have been tricky to reproduce on small stickers or embroidered onto aprons, but the font’s clarity held up surprisingly well. The included alternates and ligatures gave me flexibility when designing custom elements like thank-you cards and menu headers.

Testing the Font in Real-World Applications

Before finalizing the brand system, I always test fonts in context. I dropped Anthom into packaging mockups, printed samples, and even a sample Instagram post. On screen, it looked great in hero sections and blog headings. In print, it maintained its charm on both textured paper and glossy labels. I also checked how it performed in SVG format for the café’s website—it scaled beautifully without losing its character.

I made sure to test legibility at different sizes. At smaller point sizes, like on a business card, some of the finer strokes became slightly less defined, but overall, the font remained readable. For body copy, I used a complementary sans serif, which created a nice visual hierarchy and kept the design from feeling too stylized.

Font Pairing: Finding the Right Balance

Anthom is expressive on its own, so I paired it with a minimalist sans serif to create contrast and balance. The combination worked well across both digital and print assets. For example, in the café’s newsletter design, I used Anthom for headlines and the sans serif for article body text. This helped guide the reader’s eye while maintaining a cohesive typographic voice.

If you're using Anthom in a branding project, consider pairing it with a serif or a geometric sans to match its modern script style. The goal is to let Anthom shine as the hero typeface while supporting it with fonts that provide structure and clarity.

Practical Tips for Using Anthom in Client Work

Another thing I appreciated was the font’s multilingual support. The client’s café had a global menu, and being able to use Anthom for foreign language text (like French and Spanish accents) was a big plus. It’s not always a given with decorative fonts, so this added a layer of professionalism to the design.

Where Anthom Shines Most

Anthom works best as a display or headline font. I used it for the café’s logo, social media graphics, and event posters. It also looked great on custom packaging—like stickers and to-go cups. The font’s texture and warmth gave the brand a human feel that resonated well with the local audience.

For digital use, Anthom performed well in web headers and SVG illustrations. I made sure to embed it properly using web-safe formats, and it loaded quickly without compromising quality. On mobile, the font’s legibility held up, especially when used at a slightly larger size in hero sections.

A Font That Feels Like a Signature

By the end of the project, I realized that Anthom didn’t just support the brand identity—it helped define it. The café’s new look felt personal, like a handwritten note from a friend. That’s the magic of a good script font: it adds warmth and character without feeling forced.

If you’re working on a branding project that needs a touch of modern elegance with a handmade feel, Anthom is definitely worth a try. Whether it’s for a logo, packaging, or digital assets, this font brings a unique personality to any creative project. Just remember to test it thoroughly and pair it thoughtfully, and you’ll be on your way to a memorable brand identity.
